St. Petersburg Theater “Russian Ballet” was created in 1990 by the family of professional ballet dancers and the dynasty is more than 100 years old. The Artistic Director of the theater, Alexander Bruskin, is a former soloist of the Kirov ballet, a classmate of Baryshnikov, and a student of the legendary ballet pedagogue Alexander Pushkin, the mentor of Rudolf Nureyev.
The Theater was created as a small ballet of the Mariinsky Theater for the State Hermitage Museum, which opened after the restoration in 1991 of the Imperial Hermitage Theater (built in 1763).
The St.Petersburg Theatre “Russian Ballet” has successfully conducted more than 70 tours worldwide, including Japan, France, Belgium, England, Ireland, Spain, USA, Portugal, The Netherlands, Germany, Finland, Turkey, Estonia, Isle of Malta, Katar (Doha), Syria, Chile, Spain, China, Italy, Norway and many other countries. The theatre has participated in 17 international ballet festivals.
